In case of weak teeth, it's also possible to let the tablet slowly dissolve in the mouth. Do not exceed the recommended daily dosage.

    The recommended dosages are:

    Adults
    Initial treatment of vitamin D deficiency (serum levels < 25 nmol/l or < 10 ng/ml) (loading dose):
    • 100.000 IU at once (10 tablets of Vitamin D3 Costero 10.000 IU or 4 tablets of Vitamin D3 Costero 25.000 IU).
    • One month after the loading dose, maintenance dosage of 800-1.600 IU per day or an equivalent weekly or monthly dose should be considered.

    Prevention of vitamin D deficiency in adults with an established risk:
    • 800-1.600 IU per day or an equivalent weekly or monthly dose (1-2 tablets of Vitamin D3 Costero 5.600 IU per week or 1 tablet of Vitamin D3 Costero 10.000 IU per week or 1 tablet of Vitamin D3 Costero 25.000 IU per month).

    Osteoporosis
    800-1.000 IU per day or an equivalent weekly or monthly dose (1 tablet of Vitamin D3 Costero 5.600 IU per week or 1 tablet of Vitamin D3 Costero 25.000 IU per month).
    In vulnerable elderly patients at high risk of falls and fractures, a daily dose of 2.000 IU of vitamin D may be considered. Patients should receive calcium supplements if dietary intake is insufficient.

    Children and adolescents under 18 years
    Vitamin D3 Costero 5.600 IU, 10.000 IU, and 25.000 IU tablets should not be used in children and adolescents under 18 years of age due to insufficient data on treatment with high doses.

    Special patient groups
    Liver failure: No dose adjustment is needed for patients with liver failure.
    Renal failure: Vitamin D3 Costero 5.600 IU, 10.000 IU, and 25.000 IU tablets should not be used in patients with severe renal failure.

    Vitamin D3 Costero 5.600 IU, 10.000 IU, and 25.000 IU tablets can be taken with sufficient water, with or without food.
